Delta Music Makers
Community Band Society

Established in 1982 and registered as a society with the Province of British Columbia on June 22, 1993, the Delta Music Makers Community Band Society has three objectives.

  1. To provide musical education to adult amateur musicians, some of whom may have only limited musical background.

  2. To provide an opportunity for its members to perform high quality concerts in the local community.

  3. To create a balance between fun and serious musical progress without taking itself too seriously.
PURPOSE

Delta Music Makers Community Band Society, known simply as the Delta Music Makers, is dedicated to giving adult intermediate band musicians the opportunity to perform music for their enjoyment and education under competent musical direction.  The band offers a service to the community by performing music before the public and hospital shut-ins, as well as with other band groups in the Lower Mainland and abroad.

The Concert Band includes complete woodwind, brass and percussion sections.  It performs a variety of Broadway musicals, concert marches, light classics, pop songs and folk music.  One of its unique features is a vocalist who sings with full band accompaniment on several selections.

Members are drawn from Delta, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond and Point Roberts, Washington and are registered through the Delta School Board Night School programme.

The band is committed to the performance of the best of the traditional and contemporary band repertoire, and to providing opportunities for all band musicians to play at their level.  It is also helpful in fostering the on-going training of young highschool graduates through a scholarship, and to encouraging young composers by commissioning new music.
